Unpretentious

3 07 2010

It felt like how I felt when I watched kungfu films when I was a boy. I wanted to strike sharply, duck swiftly, kick grandly, and fight suavely. And dust my sleeves before walking off heroically.

The film boasts a simple formula. Long great (and real!) fight sequences, punctuated only with short simple dialogue. Such as this well thought-out exchange:

Not knowing her name but remembering her presence
Is like remembering a song but not knowing its title
Knowing his name but not knowing how he feels
Is akin to knowing a song but not knowing the tune

Second week in cinemas today, go catch it! :)
